adaQuest is an award-winning company with clients all around the globe, offering everything from project management to staffing and venture integration. With 120 employees, adaQuest operates three separate business units that focus on: Professional Staffing, Project and Work Management for Microsoft Project and SharePoint servers as well as providing Managed Services for projects to their clients.
Being a managed services company for software implementation, adaQuest saw the need to take their IT managed hosting off-site and, “practice what they preach, by leaving it to the experts” to service the needs of their growing company.
After taking time to evaluate the pros and cons of taking their infrastructure to an off-site data center location, adaQuest decided to utilize the Wowrack Private Cloud to run their entire corporate infrastructure.
They were able to virtualize a large part of their physical infrastructure –comprised of nine servers; and now have more than two dozen servers located at the Wowrack data center in Seattle, Washington, running Microsoft’s Hyper-V Virtualization platform. adaQuest’s application stack consists of Microsoft technologies with Windows 2012 Active Directory Servers, Microsoft Exchange 2010, Microsoft System Center 2012, Microsoft SQL Server 2008R2, Microsoft Project Server, Microsoft Lync Server 2010 with Enterprise Voice, Microsoft TMG Server, Quickbooks server and several other Application servers.
Wowrack was able to work closely with adaQuest to perform an Active Directory migration from 2003 > 2008R2, perform a migration from a hosted cloud Exchange solution to a private on-premesis Exchange server, deploy a brand new Unified Communication Phone system running Lync with Enterprise Voice and setup disaster recovery infrastructure with Microsoft Hyper-V replica and System Center 2012.
Before moving to Wowrack, each of these servers was located on-site at adaQuest’s offices. But with a rapidly growing company, Bruno Lecoq, CTO, realized that he did not want his own team to run an in-house data center, but rather be able to improve their own internal IT needs. Taking the servers off-site would allow him to scale in multiple office locations, while having an extension of their IT team by utilizing Wowrack’s services.
After evaluating multiple managed hosting providers, Lecoq decided that working with Wowrack was the best option for his team. “From a technical perspective, we knew that many companies could provide the support we needed; however, we wanted to work with a local company where we could visit the data center and develop a relationship.”
Lecoq noted that it was the patience of Wowrack partners Erward Osckar and Ed Kimm during the transition process – as well as their shared sense of company values – that sealed the deal with adaQuest. He shared, “At the beginning of the project, we decided to move cautiously, only implementing one server. They visited our offices two to three times during this transition. Once we reached the first milestone with no issues, we ramped-up the process to take all eight servers off-site.”
He added that with the growth of the adaQuest, he is able to scale with no issues, “The ease of adding or removing employees has been taken away. I now have an extended IT department that is available 24/7/365 and have gone from nine on-site servers to one (Wowrack Private Cloud). From a monetary perspective, we would have had way more spend had we kept the data center on-site. And we could not operate 24/7 to support our global locations.”
